It’s ok to let your brain rest!

Alright so I guess the cool thing to say is team no sleep, no breaks or no days off. No! Forget that! I need my sleep, I need to rest and I need a break. I mean yes sometimes I get so caught up in what I am doing, my goals, my dreams, that next thing I know it is two, three, or four in the morning and I have to be up and out of the door by six or seven to get my children to school and get myself to work. Did I tell you how exhausted I am doing this late night early morning thing? I need sleep! I need to rest! I need a break! My brain needs to rest!

I find that when I work late and get up earlier in the morning I don’t get as much done. I am busy, but not always productive. I can’t think as clear because I am tired, frustrated, overwhelmed, all at the same time. My brain starts to scatter everywhere and it shuts down on me. But when I take my ass to bed and I get more sleep I wake up so rejuvenated and I’m just ready to go. I feel like the world is at the palm of my hands. I get so much more done.  I need to slow down, rest, take a break and get myself together. So no! I am not hashtag team no sleep or hashtag no days off. I’m getting sleep and taking breaks in between every move. I work better and get more done after I simply get some rest.

Take breaks and rest in between everything you do! There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. And no it does not put you behind. It puts you where you need to be. Just because someone works non stop, doesn’t mean they are being productive or getting further than you. Because sometimes people are busy but not getting anything done. Be productive, not busy!  Think smarter not harder! Get rest! And wise words from a friend, Drink a lot of water, and mind a whole lot of your own business!

Let me also say this. In my opinion when you are working on something such as a goal or a dream, and you want it bad enough, it results in you, being tired, needing a break, exhaustion etc. That is what you call being productive, you are actually getting things done. If you are busy and don’t get tired, you dont need a break, your not exhausted, you are just that, busy. So therefore if you are busy but not productive you are just wasting your time. The goal should be to be productive and make progress, not, be busy and no progress. If all you have is a very productive 1, 2 or 3 hours to work on your goals, your dream, then do that. Dont try to work all day and night, 10, 16 or 24 hours, tired and overwhelmed and you accomplish nothing. In situations such as this, sometimes less is more.

Work hard on everything you do but make sure that you, get plenty of rest and take breaks in between. Remember this, It is ok to let your brain rest. It will work better for you when you do!
