Effort is an attempt to do something that is difficult to do or involves hard work.
So as the school year ended I sat down and spoke to my sons about their grades and school, then asked them their thoughts. We talked about the experience of home schooling and the sudden changes. Both expressed to me how tough it was for them. It took them some time to get use to it. They had to adjust to this new way of learning.
For some people, young and old, school is a walk in the park, and for others they need extra help. School is easier for my youngest son but for my oldest son he struggles and we both know it. While physically attending he was able to get extra help and one on one attention. Being home and having to do school online, it wasn’t easy getting that one on one hands on attention.
So as the school year ended and parents excitedly talked about their children getting honor roll or all A’s and B’s. I was extremely proud of my children because they may not have gotten all A’s but they gave me the one thing that I always ask for from them. To many it may not be enough but to me it is everything. They gave me EFFORT. They didn’t get all A’s but they gave me E’s. E for EFFORT!
They both gave me EFFORT. Some days were easy and other days were hard for them. But on the easy and hard days they gave me EFFORT. And with the circumstances that we were given this 2020 pandemic year all I could ask for from my babies was EFFORT and effort is what they gave me. So for that I am extremely proud of my sons.
People think that success is only when you reach the outcome of whatever you are trying to reach. Not true! Success is also that moment that you are doing something and it gets hard but you don’t give up. You don’t give up, and you keep trying. The moment you stop trying is the moment that you give up on yourself. The decision to keep going when you want to give up is success in it’s own way. Success comes from Effort!
So when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Whatever it may be, all I ask for is EFFORT! We can get through any hurdle if we just work a little harder and never give up.
From a young age I always told my children this message right here,
“No matter where you are, or what you are doing in life, times will get rough and you will find yourself stuck trying to figure something out. You will want to give up because something looks hard or you cant quite figure it out. No matter what is thrown your way, all I ever ask for from you is one thing. That one thing is EFFORT! You always try and never stop trying. You do the very best you can do. And when you give it all you got you should be proud of yourself no matter what the outcome is because you gave EFFORT. Mommy will always take success that came from hard EFFORT over easy success anyday. Success means more when you know that you worked hard for it, and you earned it yourself with blood, sweat and tears. Effort is a part of the recipe for success.” -Andrea Daniels
