Ohana! The best friends you can have! 

Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.

Recently I found myself sitting on the couch watching the Disney movie, “Lilo and Stitch.” Where Lilo teaches stitch how to love and care for someone else. Through lots of hardwork, faith in love and her strong beliefs in “ohana” (Family) she was able to open Stitches heart to have and show love for family as well. I find this movie to be one of my favorites because my love for my Family is very comparable to the love Lilo has for her family. There is this immeasurable love that I have for them. No word or feeling can describe just how much I love my family.

Family is one of those words that you see thrown around very frequently, which leads me to ask, What is a family? Many would say family are those people who share your dna somehow, some way. The dictionary says that a family consists of a mom, dad, children, and the descendents of a common ancestor. While true I would also include those who have come into your life and never left. Family is not always blood. Family are those people who come and stay.

I love many things, but I love nothing more than my family. To see their smiles and hear their laughter makes me the happiest person in the world. When the world is against you, who is there? Family! When you lose everything and you are down to nothing, who is there? Family! When you cry, when you laugh, who is there? Family! It’s your family that is always there. Family are those people who are simply there through everything. So to me there is absolutely nothing better than my family.

I know that everyone has their own story, memories and feelings when it comes to their family. Some good and some bad. Be mindful and aware of who you call your “Family.” It’s ok to love some from a distance. But remember this, everyone does not love the same way you love. So sometimes it’s the love that you give them, that brings out the love that they have for you. Sometimes you have to teach people how to love. The ones who are there and never leave, cherish them. Get to know them, love them more and more everyday. Make sure you tell them you love them everyday. Anyone who has made an impact in your life and continues to do that, are your family. Always keep your family close! Wherever you go they go!

I love my family so much. I would do anything for my family. I’d give my last for my family! I promise wherever I go my family goes because, “Ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.” My family is always with me!
